Code Compliance

Compliance with building code is not an option ... it is the law! IMETCO devotes copious resources to understanding various codes and ensuring our systems comply with or exceed their requirements.

What Does Code Compliance Really Mean?

Building Codes are established by state & local governments to safeguard the public’s interest with regard to building construction, and are generally concerned with the structural and fire safety aspects. While there are over 40,000 different government jurisdictions in the United States which adopt and enforce building codes, these government agencies generally adopt a model code into the state civil code or local ordinances, but not always.

Building Code and Roofing

Each model code addresses roofing requirements by:

  • Establishing acceptable methods of calculating the minimum requirements of a roofing system
  • Establishing the proper methods to evaluate the performance of specific systems or materials

Following the calculation and testing methods prescribed by local and international building codes, IMETCO evaluates the wind uplift, water penetration, missile impact, and fire resistance of our metal systems to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.

Your Stamp, Your Seal, Your Problem

It is ultimately the professional responsibility of the design professional of record to review and approve any products or systems to be used on a project. With your seal and your signature, you assume personal professional liability for ensuring compliance.

At IMETCO, your reputation - and your time - is as important to us as it is to you. Our engineers are here to help you understand not only the code requirements, which generally only establishes minimum requirements for construction design and installation, but to determine whether or not your structure needs to exceed the minimum code requirements to ensure proper performance.
